Winter storm update

The National Weather service has issued a storm statement for the upcoming Wednesday, January 4th storm, indicating that this will likely be a very impactful system, bringing the possibility of flooding, downed trees and power outages.

Employees with responsibilities that require them to be on campus should report as usual. Other employees who work on the Stanford campus are encouraged to work from home through Thursday, January 5, if feasible. Departments that normally provide on-site services may be sending specific information to their staff. Guidance will be provided to SLAC staff in a separate communication.

Employees should check with their departmental management for clarification of responsibilities if needed.

All Stanford Redwood City Campus employees are expected to work remotely until Monday, January 9.

Operations at the Stanford Research Park should continue as usual. Childcare centers at the Stanford campus will remain open. Healthcare operations have not been impacted, nor are patients in danger.

Wednesday’s storm is expected to bring dangerous travel conditions. Please avoid unnecessary travel. If you need to drive, check traffic reports before heading out the door. Slow down, leave extra space between vehicles and watch out for flooding on roadways. Keep both hands on the wheel and leave your headlights on. Stay away from driving through standing water. Please stay away from downed power lines and assume they are energized and extremely dangerous. (Palo Alto Office of Emergency Services)

Updates will be posted to this site as they become available.
