Heat wave tips and respite areas available

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for much of California, beginning Saturday morning and continuing through Tuesday evening.

While the regional heat wave will most severely impact inland areas of the state, the potential for widespread strain on the power grid has resulted in a State of Emergency declaration for the California power grid, including a warning of the possibility of rolling blackouts. While rolling blackouts are possible, this is unlikely to affect campus, barring a very large-scale grid event.

University staff are taking measures to prepare campus for this coming heat wave and will remain informed on potential impacts to campus. You are encouraged to take steps to prepare – whether you are on campus or elsewhere. Visit emergency.stanford.edu for preparedness tips and information on respite spaces.
